Gut microbiome focus: Differences in the gut microbiome between children and adults can mediate the metabolism of arsenic possibly leading to differences in exposure risk, the gut microbiome’s ability to protect against salmonella infection is dependent on the IFNy producing bacteria, the microbiome of insoluble fibre is characterized, and a new in vitro technique to interrogate intestinal transport of microbiota and antigens. Plus an overview of the world data centre for microorganisms, and MicroScope for microbial genome annotation.
