Today we have many “gut microbiota” and “water microbiome” articles, as well as quite a few reviews in “Food microbiology” sector. One article (among many interesting today) I would like to highlight is the one from Guillaume Bernard and how unraveling the microbial dark matter should be identified as a central priority for biologists.

The publication of a Springer manual entitled Mechanisms underlying host-microbiome interactions in pathopysiology of human diseases contains multiple interesting articles today, including reviews on the gut microbiome and preterm infant gut development, colerectal cancer, and metabolic disease, as well as a useful review of statistical models for mouse and human microbiome data. In addition, a revisitation of gut enterotypes via metabolomics, decreased Akkermansia muciniphila in psoriasis,  the bacterial communities of fiddler crabs, the impact of different wavelengths of light on hot spring bacteria, and two articles on the uses of metabarcoding in both 16S and eukaryotic microbiota analysis.
