Not many new microbiome papers, but a nice oversight of the microbiological quality of Rio de Janeiro’s Guanabara Bay, where the 2016 Olympics will be held.

Also, there was an interesting discussion online yesterday on IBM’s new campaign aimed to get more women interested to join them – which backfired and was pulled. IBM was trying to recruit more women with a video called “Hack a Hairdryer”, showing how you can use a hairdryer to iron your clothes or blow confetti. It was unclear how emphasizing feminine applications was supposed to attract smart women wanting to work at a computer company.
