Highlights!

Commensal microbiota divergently affect myeloid subsets in the mammalian central nervous system during homeostasis and disease – Roman Sankowski – The EMBO Journal → This study shows how perturbations in the microbiota drive changes in gene expression profiles in the CNS-associated macrophages, with concomitant effects on the  CNS myeloid cells, including Alzheimer-associated repercussions in a specialized murine model.

Coordination of root auxin with the fungus Piriformospora indica and bacterium Bacillus cereus enhances rice rhizosheath formation under soil drying – Feiyun Xu – The ISME Journal → In this study, authors report a cooperative effect of an endophytic fungus and a plant growth-promoting bacterium in rhizosheath formation when moderate soil drying, an agricultural technique used to improve water utilization, is performed.
